Arne Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Has The Club's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot conceded that it's natural for doubts to be raised about his position following another convincing loss against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their ninth loss in twelve matches, marking the team's poorest streak since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Dutch league champions on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I've received plenty of support from above,” the coach remarked.

“It's important to change things and secure a win obviously but when you're coaching a team and struggling then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I am OK with my situation. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Conversations with Club Management

When asked to provide details on his conversations with the team officials, Slot said:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me all the time of the day to say they trust me.”

He added, “In the normal conversations we have I perceive the confidence. However I haven’t spoken to them after this game yet so we'll see.”

Persistent Failings and Squad Reaction

The manager highlighted recurring shortcomings from his team in their Champions League loss, specifically wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the answers. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” Jones remarked.

“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to think about it. I’m past being angry internally. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the words.”

He added, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a spell like this with performances so bad.”

Jones concluded, “However we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And as long as that badge is removed, we'll continue to compete.”

“Our aim is to help the side return to its rightful place, demonstrate to all again the values of this club and why it's known as the greatest side in the planet.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
