Finn had a key role in the well-loved series The Middle.

American entertainer Pat Finn, who appeared in popular programs like "Friends", "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has passed away at the age of 60.

The comedy and improvisation performer passed away at his residence in Los Angeles, California recently having undergone treatment for cancer from 2022 onward, per reports.

"Pat saw everyone as a friend - solely future friends he had yet to meet," his loved ones said in a statement.

They added that he had "lived his life fully - with happiness and energy".

A Notable Career on Screen

His initial on-screen part was on the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he appeared as the titular character's brother.

He was also seen in a regular part on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.

He starred as the character Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in the late 90s, playing a host famous for delegating unpleasant chores to his guests.

Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on a variety of well-known programs, such as:

  • "King of Queens"
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House, M.D.

Finn was perhaps best known for playing Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight seasons between 2011 and 2018.

His cinematic roles are "It's Complicated" and "Santa Paws 2".

A Life in Improv

Outside of his television work, Finn was an improv performer and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.

He was part of a six-member improv team called Beer Shark Mice.

"Pat guided, supported, and advised countless students over the years and it would be difficult to find anyone anywhere who has an unkind word to say about him," his relatives stated.

Paying homage, fellow actor actor Richard Kind remarked there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, making those around him better and funnier. A great dad, a great guy," he posted online.

Pat Finn is leaves behind his wife Donna, three children, and his family.
