Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed strikes across the region in retaliation for a "massive" and continuing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity close to the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any impact is not yet known and the American officials has not commented.

Airspace Engagements

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - said they have shot down incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

IRGC Statement

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on Iran carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on sites linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to rise up against the regime.

Regional Fallout

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," it added.

Officials reported debris fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some property damage and fatalities.

The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
