Red Bull Reveals Significant 2026 Driver Seats: Hadjar Steps Up, Youngster Arvid Lindblad Secures Grand Prix Debut.

Red Bull has revealed a major reshuffle for the 2026 Grand Prix year, promoting French driver Isack Hadjar to its main squad and handing 18-year-old Briton Arvid Lindblad his maiden F1 drive.

Lindblad, who has a Swedish father and a mother of Indian descent, will be the partner of Kiwi driver Liam Lawson at the sister squad Racing Bulls.

This driver musical chairs sees Japan's Yuki Tsunoda being without a drive after five seasons.

Who is Arvid Lindblad?

Lindblad has been tagged as a rising talent by Red Bull since he was 12 years old.

Talking about the company's junior academy, a senior Red Bull figure noted last year that Lindblad "seems extremely gifted", highlighting his "natural quickness".

Red Bull prepared a programme since last year to prepare Lindblad for his potential Grand Prix bow in 2026, including runs in F1 practice sessions at the British and Mexican races.

Lindblad stated it was a "proud moment", commenting: "Next season represents a huge step, and I know there's a lot to learn, but I'm prepared to collaborate with the team and rise to it. I am incredibly excited to get started."

He has won two races in F2 so far this season and is sixth in the championship heading into the final round in Abu Dhabi.

Hadjar's Big Break

The Frenchman's debut season began in difficult fashion when he spun out during the warm-up lap of the season-opening Australian Grand Prix. But, from that point, he has been one of the most impressive rookies this season.

His performances included an remarkable podium finish at the Dutch Grand Prix, and he sits 10th in the championship.

The team principal said: "Isack has displayed impressive growth and proved to be a quick learner. Most importantly, he has the innate pace that is the primary necessity in this sport. We believe he can thrive next to Max."

The promoted driver called it "an incredible opportunity" and said he felt "ready".

The Lawson Decision

To partner Lindblad at Racing Bulls, Red Bull have opted for Lawson instead of Tsunoda.

The New Zealander started 2025 with the senior squad but was demoted after just two races. He has found his form at the junior outfit with some strong performances, convincing Red Bull he deserves more time.

The Japanese driver, meanwhile, has been ejected after a disappointing season. His highest finish is a sixth place, and he has accumulated a minor percentage of the team's constructors' championship.

These announcements confirm that there remains no spot on the Red Bull academy for Irish driver Alex Dunne, who will remain in F2 for 2026.
