The most recent Far Cry game that gamers explored was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the antagonist, Antón, and debuted during October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it has a reputation for celebrating chaos and mayhem with equal excitement, all while weaving gripping, ideologically themed tales. It’s no surprise that FX's new order for a Far Cry anthology series brought on board two producers whose projects have represented all of those qualities.
Adapted from Ubisoft's successful video game property, the self-contained anthology series will stream on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The anthology will also mirror the video games' format by having a different location and ensemble in every instalment.
Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as executive producers on the series via their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
We’ve shared outstanding partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is innovative, engrossing, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our partners at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this popular property.”
Mac will also feature in the show, but currently, we do not know what role that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago approved for another season, with FX and Disney finalizing a new overall deal with the creator.
“Having the opportunity together with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly accommodating, entrusting us with one of the most renowned video-game worlds ever created. And along the way, my FX family always encourages me with their ongoing trust and support.”
“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology-style show. Every instalment is a interpretation of a idea, the same way every run of Fargo is a adaptation on a story,” noted Hawley. “To produce a large-scale action show that can change from season to season, while always examining the core of people through this intricate and unpredictable perspective, is a dream come true. I’m thrilled to partner with Rob and present our mutual unconventional, daring style to the television.”
A time frame for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
