The co-creator of Call of Duty, renowned for co-creating the wildly popular first-person shooter Call of Duty, has tragically died in a car accident in California aged 55.

Zampella's death was confirmed by Electronic Arts, the parent company of Respawn Entertainment, a game studio he co-founded.

The celebrated industry figure died after his vehicle was involved in a crash and burst into flames on a motorway in LA on Sunday morning, as reported by.

"We are facing a devastating loss, and we stand with Vince's loved ones, his family, and all those touched by his work," a representative from Electronic Arts said.
